Internet sensation and father of South African Olympic gold medallist Bert Le Clos joins customers at Slug@Wimbledon

Bert Le Clos, father of South African swimmer and Olympic gold medallist Chad Le Clos (200 metre butterfly) celebrated his son’s historic win with customers at South Africa’s favourite bar home-from-home, Slug@Wimbledon.

Bert, who has become an internet sensation following his heartfelt interview on BBC with Claire Balding after his son’s historic win over American Michael Phelps, is pictured (right) with Greg Crammond manager of Slug@Wimbledon. The Sharks (SA) rugby fan joined customers to watch his team play Chiefs (NZ) which is part of the Super 15 tournament on Saturday.

“What a lovely man. He is so proud, and rightly so of his son’s achievement. Our customers at Slug@Wimbledon, many of whom are South African and Sharks fans too really warmed to him and we were delighted to welcome him back on Saturday night to party Slug@Wimbledon style”, commented Greg Crammond.
