Beloved village pub, The Woodman in Woodmansterne, is set to reopen its doors on Wednesday 14th February following a six-figure interior refurbishment.

In addition to a full interior redecoration with upgraded furniture and lighting, the substantial £300,000 investment also includes an extension to the kitchen to aid faster service as well as new disabled access toilet facilities. The renovation also equips the venue with a brand-new garden bar, perfect for enjoying summer afternoon aperitifs or soaking up the rays whilst sampling the pub’s newly launched seasonal dishes. Guests can enjoy several new dishes including Hake & Scallop Tagliatelle and for those with a sweet tooth, a Rhubarb & Custard Sundae.

Firm menu favourites include their Chicken & Pancetta Pie that won Great Taste 2023 and was also a British Pie 2023 Award Winner as well as their sought-out Sunday roasts. The pub’s award wins don’t stop there, their new pork, red wine & fennel sausages have also won Gold Award Winner at the National Craft Butchers Awards 2023.

The Woodman is located in the picturesque Woodmansterne village just outside of Banstead. The family and dog friendly pub is a mere stone’s throw away from the village cricket club and with sprawling gardens and a children’s playground, the pub is a firm favourite amongst locals.

General Manager, Graham Reed, has been with The Woodman for 12 years and commented: “The team and I are very proud of the pub and its fresh new look. As the pub’s reopening neatly ties in with the global celebration of love, Woodman will be running a fantastic Valentine’s offering of two mouth-watering marbled rib-eye steaks and a bottle of house red or white for just £45. The offer is available from 14th – 17th February and bookings are encouraged to ensure you and your Valentine have the best seat in the house.

The pub will also be hosting a grand relaunch event on Friday 16th February from 6pm onwards to celebrate its re-opening. If seeing the fresh new look of the pub wasn’t enough enticement, The Woodman will also be offering the first 50 people through their doors a free drink from a set selection! There will also be a variety of nibbles and tasty treats on offer for customers to showcase their delicious food.

Locals and visitors alike are welcome to join The Woodman in its opening celebrations and party the night away with their live band for the evening.

As part of its opening celebrations, The Woodman will be hosting a £250 bar tab competition to host a party in the new outdoor area. The competition launches 16th February and is open to all of The Woodman’s Facebook followers and to be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is sign up to their newsletter data base and pre-book a table during the opening week.

The Woodman in steeped in history and the original structure was built in the late 1800s as an annex to The Manor House located next to St Peter’s Church. Nowadays, the venue is a popular village pub, but if customers look closely, they’ll be able to find remnants of its long and lustrous past.
