A collection of Stonegate Group pub managers from London have set themselves the challenge of walking 100km to Brighton to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association).

Alex Macey-Dare, Area Manager at Stonegate, has rallied the managers within his remit and the 20 strong team will be taking on the challenge between 6th and 7th February.

The team will be splitting into two groups, the first will be taking a route from Eastbourne to Brighton and the latter from Arundel to Brighton. Each team of walkers will be taking a 50km route through undulating hills, seaside plains and countryside lanes.

As each team will be walking more than the distance of a marathon, the challenge will be undertaken over the course of two days with a pit stop in the middle. By the time each group makes it to Brighton, 100km of land will have been jointly covered.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affects the nerves known a motor neurones. These nerves are found in the brain and spinal cord and are responsible for muscle movement. Those with MND suffer from a wide range of symptoms including affected movement. The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by the disease and provides various resources to improve their quality of life.

Organiser and Area Manager Alex commented: “I am always looking for ways to unite my team and the challenge of walking 100km to Brighton was one our pub managers jumped at. I’m really proud that all 20 managers from the pubs in my area have committed to taking on the challenge.

Stonegate have a long-standing relationship with MND Association as it is the company’s official charity of choice and it is a cause that we feel very strongly about supporting. We are aiming to raise £10,000 for MND Association.”

The pub managers are already raising money in their individual pubs and additional donations are being collated through their official area Just Giving page. All funds raised through the cash collections and online donations will be donated to MND Association once the team have taken on the challenge.
