One of Leeds city centre’s best-loved pubs has officially reopened following a six-figure investment, unveiling a transformation that has taken The Moot Hall Arms to a whole new level.

The popular Craft Union Pub Company venue has welcomed guests back today following the refurbishment, enhancing an already successful offer with upgraded facilities, increased capacity and a brand-new events space.
The investment has transformed the pub across two floors and three bars, headlined by the addition of a brand-new upstairs bar and events space, The Changing Rooms, designed to celebrate the rich history and culture of Leeds United.
Already renowned as one of the city’s most popular matchday destinations, The Moot Hall Arms has built a loyal following among Leeds United supporters over the past five years, with fans travelling from across the UK and around the world to experience its unique atmosphere.
The reopening is being marked with a packed programme of entertainment this weekend and across the bank holiday weekend, including DJs, live music, karaoke, Leeds United-themed events and special guest appearances from former Leeds United favourites Stuart Dallas, Mel Sterland and Noel Whelan.
Claire, Operator at The Moot Hall Arms, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be reopening and finally showing everyone what we’ve been working on.
“Over the last five years we’ve worked extremely hard to build The Moot into something special. We’re proud of the community that’s grown around the pub, the friendships that have been made here and the reputation we’ve built among Leeds United supporters.
“This investment is a huge vote of confidence in the pub and what it has become. We’ve managed to make The Moot bigger, better and more versatile, while keeping everything people love about it.”
The refurbishment includes significant investment in the venue’s décor, bars, furniture, lighting, toilets and entertainment facilities, alongside a major upgrade to the sports viewing experience.
The pub now boasts nine TVs, two large projector screens and three Sky boxes, enabling multiple sporting events to be shown simultaneously while maintaining the electric atmosphere The Moot has become known for.
The new Changing Rooms bar provides additional capacity on busy matchdays while also creating a dedicated space for private functions, charity events, book launches, comedy nights, live music, community gatherings and special guest appearances.
Sport remains central to the venue’s identity, with the pub continuing to show Sky Sports, TNT Sports and Premier Sports coverage throughout the year. Leeds United fixtures remain a major focus, with supporters enjoying a full matchday experience featuring pre- and post-match DJs, live entertainment and full sound for games.
Claire said: “We want The Moot to be much more than somewhere people simply come for a drink. Our ambition is to be one of Leeds city centre’s best-value sports and entertainment venues, with something happening every day of the week.”
The pub has a regular weekly schedule which includes:
- Monday Club – afternoon bingo and double loyalty stamps
- Tombola Tuesday – guests can win their next pint
- Win It Wednesday – interactive games including Deal or No Deal, Family Fortunes, Higher or Lower and Spin the Wheel
- Thursday Open Mic – supporting local singers and performers
- Friday Quizeoke – free pen-and-paper quiz followed by karaoke and party music
- Saturday Party Night – DJ, karaoke and entertainment
- Sunday Live Music – regular live singers and performers
Alongside its sporting credentials, The Moot Hall Arms has also earned recognition for its commitment to charitable causes. Since the current operators took over the venue, the pub and its customers have helped raise more than £100,000 for charities and good causes, supporting organisations including St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds Women’s Aid and NECS Uganda.
The Moot’s team has also travelled to Uganda in recent years, sponsoring the education of four children, delivering aid and supporting community projects within local villages.
Despite the significant investment, affordability remains a cornerstone of the venue’s offer, with guests continuing to benefit from value-led drinks promotions throughout the week, including pints from just £3 as part of selected midweek deals.
For Claire and her team, the most important thing is ensuring The Moot remains true to its roots.
She said: “We’re passionate about keeping the Moot accessible and affordable. At a time when customers are watching what they spend, we want people to know they can still come into the centre of Leeds, have a reasonably priced pint, watch live sport and enjoy entertainment without spending a fortune.
“Most importantly, we want The Moot to retain its personality. It’s still going to be loud on matchdays, full of Leeds United memorabilia, packed for big games, raising money for good causes and putting on entertainment throughout the week – there’s just a lot more of it now!”
