Over 700 people checked in to try out The Rule pub in St Andrews on Friday night, as it showed off a huge £320,000 refurbishment.

Stonegate Pub Company have re-established the pub in keeping with the charm of its home, historic South Street, following the purchase from administrators last summer which offered hope for the future of the pub, and the careers of staff and managers.

The pub hosted a literally ‘magical’ VIP opening, enticing locals young and old, with fizz, craft tastes and entertainment. ‘Traditional hospitality with a modern twist,’ was celebrated with local live band Whiteside entertaining the hundreds of guests with the party going on until 2am.

The ‘wow’ big screens were turned on for Saturday’s big Six Nations game; the fan filled pub atmosphere not too dampened by the Scotland 9 vs England 15 score line! With both Sky and BT sports installed, future champion league and big Sunday games are promised along with ringside boxing seats, as part of the core sports offer.

General Manager Scott Farmer, former team member for over two years said: “The weekend was all we expected it to be and more with people turning out in droves to explore our new look. Our artisan pizzas, and local ales were really popular as people commented on just how diverse our menus and offer have become which was much needed for our wide and diverse community. We are definitely back on the map!”

The pub might have retained the name ‘The Rule’ synonymous with the traditions of St Andrews but promises a totally refreshed, premium venue with on-trend products, service and value in a flexible space, shifting it’s appeal throughout the day.

Rise and shine breakfasts, easy lunch combos from £7.49, hand-stretched, Stone-Baked Pizzas and two meals at £11.49 Monday to Friday are just a few of the tasty food highlights.

Rotational craft beers have been ramped up doubling from three to six products, including local Eden Mill brewery and Brewdog alongside four quality real ales. Fresh new cocktails, healthy blended smoothies, extensive wines list and the most up and coming premium rums, vodkas and gins complete the drinks offer.

Keen to offer quality and value, there is a week of regular deals and attractions including Monday quiz; Tuesday two-for-one pizza; Wednesday sports society with light hearted fun pub games; Thursday craft ale and burger for £8.49; new Friday high energy funky house nights; Saturday party classic chart and dance and finally, an end of week fresh Sunday roast family treat.

Opening hours Monday to Wednesday 9am to midnight, Thursday 9am to 1am, Fridays and Saturdays 9am to 2am and Sunday 9am to 11pm.
