Yates, in Espleys Yard in Stafford, is hosting a pirate themed, live music extravaganza on Sunday 18thAugust in aid of Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund. The pub has organised seven local music acts to perform through until 10pm, when the regular DJ & Karaoke night will kick off.

The event is both family and dog friendly and the pub will be setting up both a face painting stand and a treasure hunt to keep the kids entertained. Entrance is free, but customers are welcome to donate what they can on the door.

Acts will be playing music from across the genres, back to back, throughout the day, from Sound Party’s party covers, to a selection of Grudge and Rock, from the Underdogs, to acoustic sets from the likes of Jay Johnson, Matt Grocott, Samantha Lloyd and more.

To encourage the theme, Ashley Lewis, Deputy Manager and organiser of the event, has promised all those brave enough to attend the event in their Pirate gear will be rewarded with free ‘loot’. He has also spent the last week cooking up some Pirate themed, charity cocktails for the day, from which all the profits will be donated to the charity.

Ashley said: “Cancer is terrible for anyone it affects, directly or indirectly, but for a child to be struck by such a cruel disease, is just heart breaking. The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund aims to make a positive difference in the lives of children, and their families, suffering from cancer by funding respite holidays and other initiatives.

“Sunday is a big night for us at Yates, so with our event we’re hoping to open it up to the whole community. There will be something for everyone of any age to enjoy during the day, before we ramp up the fun in the evening. The team and I are looking forward to what promises to be a great day.”

The event comes as part of Ashley’s participation in Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator Programme’. The course is part of its award-winning development programme, designed to give staff the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and proceed within the company.
