London’s favourite traditional pub, The Crutched Friar is joining the unstoppable craft-beer revolution, installing fresh tank beer from Meantime Brewery as part of a wider £260,000 investment.
The invite only VIP event from 5-7pm on Thursday 10th November was announced in surrounding streets by the loud bellows of a Town Crier in formal dress. The event revealed the new ‘premium offer’ with plenty of bubbles, traditional canapés, and Sipsmith gin tasters, against the backdrop of acoustics by Gloria Pryce, and her Jazz trio.
Designed for the aspiring entrepreneur, stylist and voyager the £260,000 transformation opens fully at 7pm on the 10th. It maintains its listed 13th century roots whilst showcasing a new stylish warmth. The investment also sees the introduction of a beautiful garden, which is one of the city’s best-kept secrets. Hidden away at the back of the pub customers can enjoy a sanctuary in the city.
Taking centre stage was the theatrical Meantime Brewery tank delivering beer straight from tank to font; offering unpasteurised and unfiltered beer, maturing right up until it hits the pint glass!
Beer aficionados can rejoice with 4 craft beers and 8 cask ales available. Including the Doombar, London Pride, and guest spots from Trumans and Sambrooks. The pub also caters to the desires of cocktail and gin lovers flaunting a hefty 12 different gins, as well as the newly introduced crafted cocktails designed by the London cocktail Club. With 2-4-1 cocktails Monday to Friday from 5-8pm it’s the perfect place for after work socialising.
General Manager Helen Blakeman said, ‘We are offering a day to night experience with plenty of guilty pleasures. The Meantime tank beer is exactly what our customers are looking for, we envisage it will become a best seller!’
The list of craft products includes Hop House 13, Pravha and Lilleys cider. The menu boasts six pie variations featuring; Beef and Double Gloucester Pie; Chicken and Brie Pie; Fisherman’s Pie; a combination of tapas; the ultimate socialising food; salads and lighter dishes; and Burgers with own recipe beef patties.
Helen continued “We can’t wait to welcome customers new and old back into the Crutched. We really are set to be the best place to be seen in the city.”
The Crutched Friar has also lined up a range of offers including Tapas Tuesdays with three dishes and a bottle of wine for £25, Wine Wednesdays, with bottles of wine for just £10.95 and Fizz Fridays with bottles available for £15.
