Hop into the Charles XII pub, on Main Street right next to the university on Tuesday the 22nd March for the first of many exciting events during the week leading up to Easter!

After a short closure for a £210,000 investment the pub promises to wow customers with a stunning new facelift, exciting new offers and newly installed Sky and BT sports.

Owners Stonegate Pub Company has been recruiting for the newly created six jobs, all getting hands on training during the closure.

The Charles XII has both an enhanced appearance and customer experience, including internal renovations, a fresh lick of paint, an outside bar and a large state of the art BBQ – all that’s needed now is the sun!

There will be a whole host of new offers every day of the week; Sky and BT Sports; earlier breakfast opening times and the introduction of the great traditional Sunday roast, with lean cuts of meat and fresh vegetables.

Residents are invited to attend the big launch on Tuesday 22nd March, which will see the introduction of new regular feature, Cask Tuesdays with all real ales at £2.25 per pint. There will also be a ‘Big Brew Off’ – two local ales from two local breweries, Great Yorkshire and Bad Co Brewing andamp; Distilling, going head to head, competing to be Best Ale as chosen by customers, to then feature on the bar for a month. This is just the start of monthly events revolving around the love of cask ales, with April hosting a Meet the Brewer night.

The launch isn’t the only event to look forward to with Wednesday games nights including old classics scrabble and connect 4 alongside Student Society nights; Thursday night requires your thinking cap – quiz night AND rock ‘n’ roll bingo! Friday will be music to yours ears; with local acoustic night whilst Saturday is all about sports, with the newly installed Sky and BT Sports.

Get ready to decorate the best Easter egg in all of Heslington on Easter Sunday, also known as Sunday Funday at the Charles XII. With plenty of activities to keep the children entertained, including a bunny hunt, there will also be the fresh new Sunday roast to look forward to, sounds like the perfect Easter Sunday!

General Manager, Kerry Payne, added, “The investment couldn’t have come at a better time, with spring and summer right around the corner, improvements to our pub and beer garden, will make the Charles XII the hottest pub in town. We are very much a community and student pub – that won’t change.”
