Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Wolverhampton later next week. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into the Wolverhampton area on Monday 16th June and Thursday 19th June visiting ten pubs and late night bars in and around the town – Pigott Arms, Crown at Codsall, Albion, Red Lion at Wednesfield, Hogshead, Royal London, Goose, George Wallis, Yates and Popworld.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Wolverhampton is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. The BBPT Passport is set to reach Pigott Arms from the Abbey in Shrewsbury on Monday 16th June at 3pm. In celebration of its arrival the pub will be hosting a children’s fun day to coincide with the end of the school day. Punch and Judy, bouncy castles, animal show, face painting, balloon-modelling, stilt walking and a raffle with prizes including family days out, will take place along with special treats such as a sweet and cake stall. Blue band ‘Big Bucket Blues’ will be performing between 5pm and 6pm. Children from the local schools will join in cheering on pub manager’s Claire Jackson’s children Oliver and Daniel as they then carry the BBPT Passport, as passengers in a Rolls Royce. They will be following on behind Claire and the Wolverhampton Cycle club members as they make the six mile journey to Crown at Codsall for 7pm where a party night at the pub will be in full swing.

The following morning the manager of the Crown will be transporting the BBPT Passport to Albion on Litchfield Road as a pillion passenger of a motorbike, with a tractor escort! There the pub will be hosting a breakfast for children during the morning. The passport will then leave The Albion at 11.30am arriving at Red Lion at Wednesfield at midday.

The Red Lion is hosting a full weekend of entertainment in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity, with live music on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th June. The BBPT Passport then temporarily leaves Wolverhampton, bound for Yates’s in Walsall, courtesy of the Wye Valley Brewery’s vintage rally mini. After a whistle stop tour of Stafford and Cannock, the Passport returns on Thursday 19th June, arriving at Hogshead on Stafford Street at 10am, where a champagne breakfast awaits. Joining them for the morning are the England World Cup wannabes who will be using the pub for an informal training session before running with the BBPT Passport to Royal London on Wulfrana Street for 12pm. The team at the pub has arranged a World Cup themed party, including challenges such as a football shoot out in the ‘piggy’ bears picnic. The Passport will then be carried by the ‘Scream’ pig via picnic trolley with Sausage Rolls and Cocktail Sausages to the Goose on Lichfield Street for 2pm.

Customers at the Goose can try their luck at the casino themed party games at the pub, before joining in the congo line to George Wallis on Victoria Street for 4pm, BBPT Passport in hand. Horseracing is the theme for the George Wallis, where team member Oli will be having his hair styled as voted for on facebook. The Passport as its takes part in a horse race to Yates’s.

By the time the BBPT Passport reaches Yates’s at Queen Square for 5pm, football fever will be at high pitch. A garden party, complete with barbeque will be in full flow, whilst customers and visitors to Queen Square can take part in penalty shoot-out between 12-3pm. The Passport will make its final stop of the day, via space hopper to Popworld on North Street for 10pm where a Christmas themed party will be kicking off. Santa will join in the fun dishing out prizes to customers from his grotto for best fancy dress.

In a further boost to fundraising plans the pubs in the City Centre will be selling tickets for a mega raffle which will be drawn on 19th June at 10pm at Yates’s – by a planned special guest. The top prize, donated by Active Security Limited is an Xbox One.

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier.
