Following two rounds of rigorous judging, the Anlaby Park Hotel, on Hull Road in Kingston Upon Hull, has reached the final six in the Best Pub for Sport category of the Great British Pub Awards (GBPAs). Seeing off hundreds of other entries, the pub’s community pub vibe, which delivers its customers a safe, welcoming and exciting sports venue for everyone, formed a large part of its success.
The Great British Pub Awards recognise, reward and celebrate the fantastic work pubs do for our country and their communities, the established industry awards is widely considered to be the Oscars of the British Pub Industry.
The Anlaby Park Hotel caters to customers no matter their age, demographic or sports viewing preference and has a customer base ranging from 18 to 80 years old. It is the ultimate venue regardless of nationality, disability, and gender for people who want to watch sport. From club to international, individual to team, baseball to Red Bull air-racing, Winter Olympics to FA Cup, if it’s accessible, the pub will be showing it.
With 17 screens, one of which is the biggest screen in the local area at 100 inches, to watch sports on, the pub shows fixtures across three rooms, catering to different crowds and for different sports. This, combined with its vibrant atmosphere which includes upbeat music and event-specific decorations, means the pub is fully booked every weekend.
