The award-winning Stonegate Pub Company is to open a brand new Slug and Lettuce at Oxford Castle.

The popular high street brand will be taking up residence in the former Living Room offering customers an enhanced, premium food and drink menu reflecting the bar’s elegant surroundings.

This is the second Living Room conversion to a Slug and Lettuce and follows the success of the first conversion at London’s Tower Bridge in November 2013.

The venue will open on Tuesday, 20 May with a VIP reception on Friday, 30 May. The VIP reception will include a Havana Cuban Band and a mobile bar will be serving up Slug’s favourite cocktails in the front garden. There will also be complimentary purple fizz for first 200 ladies entering the venue and Peroni gift bags for the men.

The investment will also see the introduction of Costa Coffee, which will mean guests can pop in for their morning coffee and breakfast from 10am every day. Costa Coffee will offer guests their choice of hot drinks throughout the day including Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, hot chocolate as well as a range of Twinings teas.
The site will open until midnight Monday to Wednesday, Thursday to Saturday until 2am and 11pm on Sundays.

The Slug and Lettuce will open every day offering breakfasts together with a range of lunch and dinner options which now include a ‘under 500-calorie’ menu, with items such as the Chicken and Pepper skewer (416 calories) and the Grilled Asparagus and King Prawn Salad (350 Calories). These sit alongside the popular platter range and mix of steak, fish, vegetarian and seasonal options.
Guests will also get to experience the Slug and Lettuce cocktail menu, which offers 2-for-1 cocktails Thursday to Saturday from 4pm to close. Cocktails include the Rumberry Mojito, Blackberry and Elderflower Pimm’s and Cinnamon Bomb.

Children can also choose from a range of tasty options from the under 8’s menu. On Sunday’s the ‘Kids For A Quid’ promotion means that for every adult dining at full price a child can eat for £1. Guests will receive 50% off their food bill on ‘Happy Mondays’, while ‘Tikka Tuesdays’ offers 2 for 1 curries and ‘Wine Down Wednesday’ offers selected wines (except sparkling and champagne) for £11.45.

A private dining area is situated within the venue, which is available for hire for parties or business events.

General manager Jamie Conrad said: “These are exciting times for both Oxford and Stonegate Pub Company. We are launching the Slug of the future. The decor of our restaurant will continue to appeal to the masses. Going from dark woods and leathers to bright lush fabrics, sparkling chandeliers, vibrant colours and a touch of glamour at every turn. It will be a complete transformation.”

In addition to the extensive cocktail offer guests can also look forward to an extended range of wines, world beers and free Wi-Fi.
