Seven Stonegate Pub Partners pubs across Liverpool have raised an incredible £15,000 for local charity Spirit of Shankly following a year of community fundraising events.

The fundraising initiative, coordinated by Stonegate Pub Partners Regional Manager Matthew Croft, brought together publicans, guests, local businesses and supplier partners across the city, culminating in a final charity event at The Twelfth Man in Liverpool.

What started as a conversation about supporting Spirit of Shankly quickly evolved into a year-long programme of fundraising activity involving seven Stonegate pubs, all united by a shared goal of giving back to their local community.

Across the 12 months, venues hosted a variety of events including live entertainment nights, raffles, auctions, bingo evenings, virtual horse racing, charity collections and sponsored karaoke events. The final event at The Twelfth Man alone raised £4,000, helping push the overall fundraising total to £15,000.

Matt Croft and Mike Mannion, Director of Transitions at Stonegate Group, presented the cheque to Stephen “Mono” Monaghan, who attended on behalf of Spirit of Shankly to receive the donation and celebrate the collective contribution.

Spirit of Shankly, Liverpool’s supporters’ union, delivers a range of community initiatives including food support programmes, welfare and debt advice, and opportunities for young people across the city.

The pubs involved in the fundraising effort were The Twelfth Man, White Star, Slaughterhouse, Horse & Jockey, Spitfire Pub & Kitchen, Royal Oak and Dovedale Towers.

Matthew Croft, Regional Manager at Stonegate Pub Partners, said: “This started as a simple idea to support a fantastic local organisation, but the response from our publicans and their customers was incredible. Every pub got behind the fundraising in its own way, and together we’ve raised an amazing £15,000 for Spirit of Shankly.

“The success of this campaign is down to the hard work and generosity of so many people. I’d like to thank all of the publicans, customers, local businesses and partners who donated prizes, attended events and supported us throughout the year. It’s been brilliant to see our pubs come together to make such a positive difference in the communities they serve.”

The highest amount was raised by The Twelfth Man, which generated £4,000 through its final fundraising event, while strong support across all seven venues helped deliver the overall five-figure total.

The fundraising campaign was also supported by local businesses and supplier partner Molson Coors, which donated prizes and contributed to events throughout the year.

The £15,000 raised will help Spirit of Shankly continue its community work and support initiatives benefiting people and families across Liverpool.
