Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Leigh and Wigan this week. BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity, will make its way into Leigh on Friday 27th June at 1pm and on to Wigan in the evening and visiting three pubs along the way. The tour will depart for the next leg of its journey, Runcorn, on Saturday 28th June.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event by organising fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Leigh is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. The passport will be transported from the Navigation Hotel in Altrincham to the first stop in Leigh, the Spinning Jenny on King Street, at 5pm. The team at the Spinning Jenny will decorate the pub in a World Cup theme and encourage customers to don their best fancy dress. Those feeling brave can also take part in the Man vs. Food challenge and the DJ will makesure that everyone is in a happy and charitable mood by supplying the best party tunes.

At Yates’s on Lord Street, customers can enjoy family fun activities throughout the day with a kids bouncy castle; face painting; kids DJ; raffle and a BBQ, weather permitting. The passport will arrive at the bar at 6pm.

Following a day of fun, the passport will be transported to the river town of Wigan for an end of day celebratory party at Reflex on King Street at 9pm.

Area Manager at Stonegate Pub Company, Jim Gray said: “Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour is an excellent initiative and I’m impressed by the incredibly innovative and exciting ideas that our teams have come up with. Residents along this route are in for a treat and I’m confident that everyone will have an amazing time whilst raising money for Variety, the Children’s Charity.”

As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
