The Talbot Hotel, Richmond participated in this year’s Richmond Meet and the pub team’s float won first prize.

Michelle Atkins, Operator of The Talbot Hotel entered the pub into the Richmond Meet for the second time, creating a float and participating in the parade around the town. The Richmond Meet is an annual event which welcomes the local community for fun and activities over a select weekend in the year. There is always lots taking place over the weekend, but one of the highlights is the parade. Individuals and businesses within the area, design floats to be part of the pageant around the town, giving out sweets and goody bags too. The Talbot’s first time in the parade and at the Meet was in 2019 where Michelle won best licensee. The pub’s beginners luck continued this year as their float won first place.

This year’s Richmond Meet was Jubilee themed and held over the Bank Holiday weekend. Michelle bedecked her float with Union Jack Flags, balloons of a crown and beer, a cut out of the Queen and banners showcasing what The Talbot has to offer to the community. Michelle also ordered sweets, which she was giving out during the parade. The pub locals also got involved and joined Michelle on the float for the parade.

Michelle Atkins, Operator of The Talbot Hotel, said: “It was great to be able to participate in the Richmond Meet again and spend a special weekend with the local community. I have loved attending and being a part of the Richmond Meet over the years and I really like looking into the history of it. It is great to have won first place and to be able to have showcased the pub to the community as well as participating in the Jubilee celebrations. I would like to say thank you to everyone that was involved in the organising of the float and the parade, I cannot wait for next years Meet.”
