Following a rigorous selection process, the Spotted Frog, on Chatsworth Road in Brampton, has reached the final six in the Stonegate Pub Partners Pub of the Year category of the Great British Pub Awards (GBPAs). Seeing off hundreds of other entries, the publican’s entrepreneurial business spirit, tenacity and acumen, formed a large part of the pub’s success.

The Great British Pub Awards recognise, reward and celebrate the fantastic work pubs do for our country and their communities, the established industry awards is widely considered to be the Oscars of the British Pub Industry.

The Spotted Frog is everyone’s local. Formally the Royal Oak, two years ago, the Spotted Frog transformed from a beer-drinkers pit-stop along the Brampton-Beer-Mile, to an all-round trendy destination pub in Brampton.

The pub now prides itself on great beer, delicious food, comfortable surroundings, and welcoming everyone. Live sport is big at the Spotted Frog. It is the ultimate sports pub (not bar) in Brampton, being one of the most comfortable places in the local area to watch all the big games in. With six HD TVs, inside and outside, showing BT Sports, Sky Sports and more online. The screens can be zoned, so even when there is a clash of fixtures, all the games can be broadcast in separate areas, so nobody misses any of the action.

Trevor Marples, Publican of the Spotted Frog, said “We are absolutely delighted to be in the finals of the Great British Pub Awards! We have worked hard to turn the business around in the last two years, and through everything that’s happened, it is amazing to be recognised in such a way. I’m so proud of my team and everything we’ve achieved over the last 18-months.”

Simon Longbottom, CEO of Stonegate Group, said: “The entirety of the Stonegate Group is behind Trevor and his team. We are incredibly proud of the ingenuity they have shown in the face of adversity and their contribution to the success of the Spotted Frog, as both a pub and as a business. On behalf of myself and the entire business, we wish them every success in the finals.”
