The Loxley on Pelham Road, Victoria Street in Nottingham recently hosted a family fun day to support the When You Wish Upon A Star charity in which they raised a total of £1,400.

When You Wish Upon A Star is a charity founded with one simple mission, to grant the wishes of children living with a life threatening illness. The charity has granted over 17,500 wishes across the UK and also organise a number of days out and treats for the children to enjoy some respite from hospital appointments and treatments.

Since one of the pubs regular customers, Dan Tutin, sadly lost his daughter Gemma in January after a long battle with a terminal illness, The Loxley has been a strong advocate in supporting the charity which helped him and his family through such difficult times.

The Loxley hosted a family fun day to help raise sponsorship funds for Gemma’s brother, Thomas, who was running the Robin Hood half marathon for When You Wish Upon A Star. The pub put together a huge raffle with some incredible prizes donated by local businesses including Notts County, Nottingham Panthers, Forty-Two and Pret A Manger. The pub also hired a children’s soft play area and Nerf Target Shooting Range to add extra entertainment to the day and customers could also enjoy some tasty treats from the bake sale.

Danielle Stevens, Deputy Manager at The Loxley, said: “I am so pleased with how much we’ve raised. I organised the fundraiser as the charity enabled Gemma to have some amazing experiences such as getting VIP passes to her favourite gigs and we are so happy to be able to give something back to them.

“I can’t thank the team enough for everything they have done alongside the Tutin family. The money we have raised is enough to send three children to Lapland! We feel incredibly honoured to be working with the charity and have lined up two more events including another family fun day and our much-loved General Manager, Jonathan Stone, will also be doing a sponsored sky-dive.

“It has been truly touching to see so many of the community get behind our fundraising initiative and we will continue to support the When You Wish Upon A Star charity as it is a matter very close to all of our hearts.”
