The Woodman in Ruislip recently held its annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising a grand total of £1,400 for the cause, with the support of the local community.
Steve Licensee of the Woodman, Manager Antonia and the pub team were pleased to host a morning for fundraising for everyone in Ruislip to get involved with, which Antonia had organised all in the aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Members of the local community made cakes and baked goods for the occasion, and they were all entered into the competition to be crowned the best bake. Winner of the best bake was Allan Merrygold who has been a regular customer of the Woodman for over 40 years.
As well as cakes, sweet treats, coffee and chats, The Woodman also held a raffle, and gained support from local businesses who donated a range of prizes. The winners were announced and received their prizes, which included vouchers, a watch, bottles of alcohol and a green hamper for Macmillan.
In attendance, supporting the event was the Mayor of Hillingdon, who took the time to speak and take photos with the locals as well as talk with Steve about the initiative and all the great things the Woodman does for its community.
Steve commented: “Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was really lovely, and we were pleased to have received the support of so many of you. We are thrilled to have raised an amazing amount of money for a brilliant cause and want to thank everyone who made a donation. We were also pleased to have the Mayor of Hillingdon come along for the morning, it was great to see him engage with all the guests and hear his thoughts on the important role pubs play in their communities.”
The Woodman is at the heart of its community, and not only offers customers a space to come together and socialise but continually supports individuals and local causes. Steve and the team regularly carry out fundraising initiatives and will be holding a Christmas raffle in December for Michael Sobel Hospice. As well as fundraising initiatives, guests will be able to come along to the pub for DJ nights and some fun upcoming Christmas entertainment.
Customers can also look forward to enjoying drinks with friends and family in the Woodman’s beer garden as it is being transformed for winter, to make the space more cosy by extending the covered area outside with additional heating.
Steve concluded: “Myself and the team do all we can to make the Woodman a community pub for all, and thoroughly enjoy finding ways to support individuals and causes. Our guests are always at the forefront of everything we do and cannot wait for them to enjoy the cosy outdoor space this winter. We look forward to welcoming everyone in the lead-up and during the festive season.”
