The Roebuck in Utley re-opened on Friday (4th March) after a huge investment of £220,000 into the Keighley pub.

Customers were blown away as Danny Lawton from Keighley Cougars cut the opening ribbon before tunes from local artist Dean Lunn entertained the already thrilled audience. As samples of fish and chips from the hugely expanded classical food menu were presented to customers old and new, the fresh cocktail range, craft beers and premium cocktails flowed into eagerly awaiting glasses.

Whilst the eclectic combination of traditional and contemporary design was embraced, so too were Manager Caroline Ingram’s plans for the future of the pub.

“The biggest change that customers are going to notice is how we have enormously expanded our food offer, with classic and homely food being our inspiration. We have a fabulous range of home comforts, grills and a whole list of pies from traditional Cottage Pie to British Beef, Rioja and Chorizo slow cooked pie but on top of that, we have a host of themed nights to welcome our customers every day of the week – a home from home.”

“Tuesday Spice nights, Friday steak and wine evenings, tapas platters, Irish themed food for St Patricks and even Flamenco nights are part of our plans. In addition to the food, we are absolutely keeping our strong connection with sports – Danny wouldn’t let us be any different! We have Sky Sports, BT Sports, Racing channel and of course will be featuring terrestrial sports such as the Euros.”

There will also be a range of none conventional events at the pub from cocktail master classes to meet the brewer and, why not? – Yorkshire Pudding competitions! “Unlike one of the UKs most prominent high street brands, we are definitely keeping the great Sunday dinner as part of our core offer! We are proud of our huge puds and challenge our customers to beat us. Who would not want a Yorkshire pudding on a Sunday?” added Caroline. Customers are advised to ask in house for more details.

The drinks range has been boosted with the addition of two craft beers, Brewdog IPA and Sam Boston Adams. Meanwhile five cask ales, Moorhouses, Hobgoblin, Stancil, Black Sheep and Abbot ale were first to the hand pulls – all selling at £2.50 per pint on cask ale Monday.

No longer having to trek to the smoke, the dedicated cocktail area is designed for freshly made drinks by the newly trained staff – and incredibly offered at two-for-one all day every day. More wines, premium spirits and premium softies with apple, mint and lime flavours, complete the menu.

Local customers have been at the heart of the improvements, and charitable fundraising for local causes such as a walk for Estelle, daughter of one of the pub’s team members, will continue. Customers are invited to go to The Roebuck, take in the new experience and offer their comments!
