The Keel Row, Seaton Delaval is full of festive cheer this Christmas, hosting a number of events, with an upcoming Christmas PJ Day on Christmas Eve.

Customers and team members in the pub on Christmas Eve are all encouraged to wear their pyjamas and will then receive a gift from the pub for their efforts. Customers should book a table as soon as possible as availability is becoming full. Licensee, Sharon Herron says: “We have done this before and it was such a fun night with people taking lots of photos and a great atmosphere.”

The pub also has a Christmas post box for Children to post their letters to Santa, with replies sent back to them.

The PJ Day on Christmas Eve wraps up what has been a joyous festive period for everyone at The Keel Row has hosted lots of great family events during the festive season. Every Saturday, the pub has hosted sold-out ‘Breakfast with Santa’ and ‘Advent Calendar Breakfast’ events, where children got the chance to meet Santa and his elves, there was also a mini disco and party games for the whole family to enjoy.

Sharon continued: “We get lots of new customers in for the breakfasts. Parents love the fact that their children get entertained. They are really successful. The new advent breakfast was also a big hit and we will look to do that again next year.”

The Keel Row has also hosted an outdoor family fun day on Monday 20 December with fairground rides, characters to meet and greet and a mini disco and games, with attendees booking tables in the pub to enjoy a meal around the event.

Sharon also brings her local community together to do good for others during the festive period through the pub’s ‘Angel Appeal’, which sees locals buying gifts for 300 children in care. Customers take paper angels, featuring gift ideas for the children, off a tree displayed in the pub. They then buy the gift and give it to Sharon to distribute to the children through social services. Sharon says: “The response we have to the tree is amazing. As a community pub it feels like a natural thing to do and people are so keen to join in.”

Sharon and the pub team carry on their traditions every year and will continue this into 2022. If you wish to visit The Keel Row, pop in or visit their website to find out more
