Fan of Panthers ice hockey have helped to kick-start a charity fundraising campaign by The Major Oak pub in Nottingham for the Acorn’s children’s hospice based in the Midlands.
Fans of the Nottingham Panthers helped raise £272.14 by purchasing raffle tickets to win a Panthers jersey and other team goodies during the Panthers themed Easter at the pub. The pub, on Pelham Road and Victoria Street was decked out in the team’s colours and staff dressed up in support as the team took on the Belfast Giants in the playoffs.
“The atmosphere was electric during the weekend with anticipation over the game”, said Anthony Galvin, assistant manager and event organiser at The Major Oak. “The fans were extremely generous and as a result we’ve made a great start to our fundraising campaign for the Acorns Children’s hospice. The winner of the panthers jersey re-donated it to be raffled again helping to raise even more cash.”
“We plan to continue running activities over the course of the next few months so we can reach our target of £500 for the hospice. There are plans afoot already for the Jubilee weekend and we’ll be shouting about them shortly.”
