The Myrtle Tavern in Meanwood, Leeds, has done it again – winning the coveted title of ‘Best Pub Garden’ at the 2025 Great British Pub Awards for the second year in a row.
The prestigious ceremony took place last night at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, bringing together the very best pubs from across the UK to celebrate excellence in the industry. Hundreds of venues compete each year, with a rigorous judging process ensuring only the most outstanding pubs take home the prizes.
Stonegate Group’s Myrtle Tavern wowed judges once again with its spectacular outdoor space, which has become a true community hub. This back-to-back win cements the pub’s reputation as home to one of the finest pub gardens in the country.
Nestled on the edge of the woods, the Myrtle Tavern’s award-winning garden features a marquee, heated lodge, wildlife pond and children’s play area. With seating for up to 400 guests, it’s a favourite for families, friends and private events, with its unique enchanted forest trail adding to its charm.
This year also saw the introduction of Aspylls Orchard, home to a beautiful private function marquee. The garden has also become a meeting point for local walking trail and history groups, further strengthening its role at the heart of the community.
Publican Scott Westlake said: “To be named ‘Best Pub Garden’ for the second year running is incredible. We’re so proud to have been recognised again on a national stage – it’s a testament to our team’s hard work and passion, and especially to my dad Pete, who since retiring has devoted countless hours to tending and caring for the garden along with his brother Mick and their friend John. It really is a labour of love, and we’re thrilled that our guests and the industry can see that too.”
Known locally as a “hidden gem” on TripAdvisor, the Myrtle Tavern’s garden continues to evolve each year with new additions, from potting sheds and a greenhouse to wildlife-friendly features. This ongoing investment ensures the space remains as welcoming and beautiful as ever, offering something for everyone to enjoy – whether it’s a casual drink, family day out, or special celebration.
