Sports fans can enjoy a great match day atmosphere in the heart of Huddersfield at The Crown which has reopened promising to be the best place to watch live TV sports in the town.

Doors to the historic pub on Westgate reopened this month much to the delight of sports-loving pubgoers with state-of-the-art, giant TV screens inside and out, the latest audio equipment, booths to enjoy fixtures with friends, and even artificial turf to add an authentic sporting feel!

It is all part of a £250,000 investment at The Crown to bring the best of food, drink, hospitality and sport all under one roof – inside and out.

General Manager of The Crown, Victoria Booth said: “We are so excited to be open and show off what a great place this is to watch all the sporting action now. If you can’t be at the match in person, the next best place to be is here at The Crown where you can enjoy the game in comfort with a drink and food, friends and fans. The atmosphere is amazing. We have a dedicated space inside as well as a fantastic beer garden with seating where you can watch the games too. The Crown is an iconic pub in the heart of Huddersfield and we are excited and proud of how it looks today. It is second to none. We have the best outdoor space and inside it’s amazing. We can’t wait to welcome our regulars and meet new customers too.”

There has been a change of layout to create a new dining area with booth-seating and a dedicated sports zone with new dartboard. Throughout there are multiple 85” TVs for all-round spectacular viewing. The outside has had a complete makeover and there are bookable booths which seat six with TV screens and artificial turf.

Big and small appetites are catered for. The menus are new for 2022 featuring all the pub favourites, including fish and chips, burgers, traditional Sunday roasts and great lunch deals. Diners can choose from a great range of dishes with plenty of choice for all dietary preferences.

Victoria added: “This is the place to watch sport in the town centre and the place where you can enjoy the best of British pub experience. It’s about good value, good quality food and drink served to your table. There are two for one cocktail offers and a choice of six cask ales on which will change regularly.”

This is the latest chapter in The Crown’s long history. It dates back to 1851, when it was the Crown Tavern. It was originally sited on the junction with Upper Head Row but was pulled down and relocated to allow for creation of the second railway tunnel.

With the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, just around the corner, The Crown is a fitting place to stop off at and enjoy a great pub experience with added sporting atmosphere.
