Beloved local pub, the Luck Penny in Stafford, has rallied the local community to collectively gather more than 350 Easter eggs to be distributed amongst a variety of fantastic local causes.

Beth Rigby, who is at the helm of the Luck Penny, joined the pub as Operator in December 2023. Beth has been a longstanding charity supporter and has raised more than £10,000 for various charities during her time working in pubs.

This is the second year Beth has decided to organise an Easter egg collection and what first started out as a kind gesture to a local children’s ward that saved her daughter’s life, has now grown into a collection of more than 350 Easter eggs, and counting, for numerous local causes and charities.

This year, the Luck Penny team will be taking a day near Easter to personally deliver the abundance of Easter eggs to multiple sites across Stafford which provide help in the local area, including a children’s ward as well as a number of local care, residential, mental health and children’s homes.

Alongside acting as a central hub for donations and driving the initiative, the Luck Penny has also been actively fundraising to purchase large quantities of Easter eggs to boost the total.

Operator Beth Rigby commented: “I only recently moved to Stafford, and it was a key priority of mine to make the Luck Penny not only a fantastic community focused pub, but also a key player in the local charity scene as it is something that is close to my heart and I think it is so important to give back to these crucial causes.”

Beth added: “We have been bowled over by the support our community and regulars have given this initiative, and I am so proud that collectively we have amassed more than 350 eggs and with two weeks to go until Easter, we are still hoping to push this phenomenal total to the 500 mark.”

As the pub looks on track to smash their target to amass 500 Easter Eggs, Beth and the Luck Penny team are reaching out to their local community in person and via their Facebook channel to learn more about other worthy local causes, families or charities who would also benefit from the surplus of Easter eggs.

In addition to their fantastic Easter egg collection, the Luck Penny team are simultaneously hosting an Easter raffle on the bar whereby customers can donate £1 for a raffle ticket to be in with a chance of winning a decadent hamper of Easter goodies. All funds raised will be donated to Boycie’s Bridge Dog Rescue.

The Luck Penny has ambitious plans to continue their charitable endeavours well into 2024 and guests are encouraged to keep an eye on their social channels and on-site notices to be in the loop with their next charity initiative.
