Pub lovers are celebrating the eagerly anticipated result of a £310,000 investment into one of the North East’s most esteemed pubs.

Full of 15th century character, the Grey Horse at East Bolden is acclaimed in the North East’s top 5 pubs for real ale and is now vying to become famous for its top-notch food.

A classic menu of freshly prepared cuisine; selection of nine cask and craft beers; and a warm welcome awaits villagers and loyal regulars from all corners of Tyne andamp; Wear at the launch event Friday 5th August, with music into the late evening.

The new chic vibe is perfect for relaxing, informal dining, gatherings and occasions. Soft furnishings and textured finishes compliment authentic features of the original coaching inn: brickwork, beams and stone floors, lovingly preserved by owners Stonegate Pub Company.

“The pub is a gem, with a great reputation for real ale. We’re building on that, developing our food, going all fresh, creating a relaxed atmosphere and giving people even more reason to travel out and experience our heritage,” said manager James Milligan.

The new setting really is perfect for the new, expansive premium food and drink menu.

Beckoning lovers of fresh food, guests are invited to watch chef at the pass, serve up a selection of Gourmet grills, British steaks matured for 35 days; Salads and Risottos; a selection of open and slow cooked pies; and home comforts from Roast Lamb Shank with rosemary andamp; red wine sauce to Cumberland Sausages andamp; Mash with red wine gravy and sticky onion marmalade. Already a popular occasion for the pub, Sunday roasts are destined to become even more tempting with cuts of meat including topside of beef, lamb shank and hand-carved turkey.

New to the premium drinks range, a sixth hand pull adds to the award winning cask ale range. Joining the unstoppable craft beer revolution, Brewdog IPA, Brooklyn Lager and a third rotation of sixteen worlds famous beers take to the bar along with premium lagers Peroni and Estrella.

Gin lovers are spoilt for choice with favourite botanics enhanced with carefully paired garnishes whilst a tantalising cocktail range adds to the essentials of any modern day pub offer.

Over 65’s get 25% off food all day Tuesdays; curry lovers are offered six flavours on Spice Night Wednesdays; steak fans can put the sizzler away on Thursdays with two great-tasting rump dinners for only £15.99; and with two meals for £10.49 Monday to Friday, there’s something for everyone.

“From the fantastic street appeal with the overhauled exterior and spruced up gardens; to the theatre kitchen; Sky and BT sports viewing; and welcome to groups such as the historical society and folk club; we are the ultimate village pub. Our offer, our welcome and our first class customer service is what customers deserve when they choose to invest their cash in us to experience a great night. That’s what we will deliver,” added James.

The launch event starts with canapés and craft beer tasters for invited guests 5-7pm, and continues at 7pm until 11pm.
