Beloved local pub, The Blob Shop in Liverpool, is relaunching its Yates’s Original Australian Wine, colloquially known as ‘Aussie Whites’. The launch will be marked with an entertainment-packed Australian themed party on Friday 2nd February from 7pm onwards.
The much-loved beverage is making a triumphant return to the venue following the efforts of longstanding General Manager Michelle Lawless, who has worked tirelessly to get Aussie Whites re-stocked after the original supplier was sold and the product discontinued.
The Blob Shop, which has a steadfast reputation as a pub of choice for party seekers and pub goers alike, will be throwing a suitably themed Australian night and the team have a fantastic array of entertainment planned. This includes Drag Queen DJ Dixi Tucker, karaoke, Australian themed cocktails and costumes, a barrel of Aussie Whites behind the bar and many different games, including spin-the-wheel, where customers can win shots, bottles and more. There are plenty of prizes to be won over the course of the evening including a hamper of the infamous Aussie Whites. It’s not one to miss, so don’t forget your bush hats, Australian flags and inflatable kangaroos!
General Manager Michelle Lawless has been a key figure at the Blob Shop for 27 years and is passionate about maintaining the pub’s history, offering and reputation as a cornerstone establishment of Liverpool’s city centre.
Michelle commented: “I’ve been a part of the Blob Shop team for almost three decades and Aussie Whites has always been a huge part of our offering and a favourite amongst our locals. Listening to our community has always been important to us and we are absolutely thrilled to have Aussie Whites back in stock and look forward to welcoming our favourite familiar faces and new customers alike to our launch party. Aussie Whites is a white wine flavoured with grape brandy which enhances the wine’s fruity taste. It was discontinued at the end of 2022 and was removed from all late-night venues and shops for over a year. Following the efforts of many establishments and locals, another wholesaler has stepped in to meet the demand and the drink has finally made a comeback to Liverpool’s social scene.
Michelle and her team will also be raising money on the night for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association), which is a charity that focuses on improving access to care, research, and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND and provides various resources to improve their quality of life.
The Blob Shop is situated in the heart of Liverpool’s city centre and guests are invited to join the pub’s celebrations next Friday from 7pm onwards. Australian costumes encouraged!
