Yates Liverpool is preparing to welcome guests back at 5pm on Wednesday 19 August following a major investment that has transformed the popular city centre venue into a refreshed destination for live sport, food and social occasions.

Located in the heart of Queen Square, the venue has undergone a six-figure refurbishment designed to enhance the guest experience, while keeping the atmosphere that has made it a local favourite for more than 25 years.

As part of the reopening celebrations, Liverpool legend John Barnes will make a special appearance at the venue on Sunday 23 August, joining fans ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League match against Newcastle.

Fans will have the chance to meet the former Liverpool star, pose for photos and see him get behind the bar to pour a pint, before he takes part in a live pre-match Q&A. Barnes will then settle in to watch the game alongside Liverpool supporters, with more opportunities for fans to meet and interact with him after the final whistle.

The investment includes a huge new 100-inch TV alongside upgraded audiovisual technology to enhance the live sports viewing experience. New dedicated pool and darts areas have also been introduced, featuring two pool tables and two digital dartboards, while the refreshed interior offers increased dining space and more comfortable soft furnishings throughout.

As one of Liverpool’s go-to venues for live sport, guests can catch all the biggest sporting action across Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Premier Sports and selected Amazon Prime and pay-per-view events.

The reopening marks the launch of an all-new Sunday roast menu, adding to the venue’s existing food and drink offering, which includes:

  • Weekday lunches from just £8 until 4pm
  • 2-for-1 cocktails and spritzes
  • 4 shots for £8.50, 8 for £12
  • The popular Bottomless Brunch experience

The team will also introduce a brand-new sports Bottomless Brunch on Sunday 23 August to coincide with Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture, giving fans the chance to enjoy live sport alongside great food and drinks.

The venue has planned a packed programme of events and activities throughout launch week, with a range of competitions and giveaways including:

  • Spin-the-wheel prizes
  • Free darts sessions
  • Fish and chip giveaways
  • Live music

Guests will also have the chance to try the new Sunday roast menu, with around 100 complimentary roasts being given away throughout the following month.

Yates Liverpool will continue to welcome dogs, with dedicated dog-friendly spaces available both inside and in the covered, heated outdoor areas.

Wade Zammit, General Manager at Yates Liverpool, said: “This investment is about much more than giving the venue a new look. We’ve created a space that offers something for everyone, whether you’re joining us to watch live sport on our new big screen, enjoy Bottomless Brunch with friends, try our new Sunday roast or simply make the most of our fantastic food and drink offers.

“We’re especially excited to welcome John Barnes as part of the reopening. It’ll be a fantastic opportunity for Liverpool fans to meet a true legend of the club and enjoy what we hope will be a brilliant day of football at the newly refurbished venue.”

Guests can also enjoy Yates Liverpool’s Rhythm of the Week programme, including:

  • Monday: Games night with free pool and darts
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Free slice of pizza with every pint purchased between 7pm-8pm
  • Thursday: Weekly quiz
  • Friday: Live music from 7pm-9pm
  • Saturday: Sport and Bottomless Brunch
  • Sunday: Sunday roasts

Originally opening in Queen Square in 1998 following the closure of the historic Yates’s Wine Lodge on Moorfields, the venue has remained a well-known part of Liverpool’s hospitality scene. This latest investment builds on previous refurbishments in 2011 and 2016, ensuring the venue continues to evolve for guests while remaining true to its heritage.
